Sports Massage & Cupping Therapy
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to bring about benefits to a person whom engages in regular physical activity or whom is recovering from injury. Soft tissue includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. A Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
Cupping Therapy dates dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C.
At the clinic we use glass cups with the dry method, using a rubber pump to create the vacuum inside the cup. The cups are moved up and down the muscles to create a massage-like effect and are also used to assist myofascial release.
